SuReMin: Sustainable, Resilient, responsible global Minerals supply chain, will design, plan, and coordinate a global center with the following vision:
SuReMin will be a leading voice for a just energy transition by guiding the development of a socially responsible and environmentally sustainable international minerals supply chain. The Center will recruit, train, and mobilize students and researchers from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and ways of knowing who conduct collaborative, use-inspired, high-impact, transdisciplinary research.
SuReMin’s founding collaborators are Northwestern University (NU), Montana Technical University, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC), the Sustainable Minerals Institute (SMI) – an entity of the University of Queensland (Australia) located in Santiago, Chile, the Universidad de los Andes (Chile), and the Universidad Iberoamericana (IBERO, Mexico).
On December 12 and 13, 2023, these partners visited the Northwestern campus for the program's 1st of 3 workshops.

CESR Seed Funding Awards
Twenty-one interdisciplinary teams of faculty members have been awarded financial support for 18-month collaborative research projects.
CESR Seed Funding Winners
CESR Seed Funding Awards support innovative, high-risk, and/or enabling collaborative research to enhance engineering sustainability and resilience. All projects represent new collaborations among the faculty members and provide support for graduate student(s) and/or postdoctoral fellow(s). Results from these projects will be presented at a Center for Engineering Sustainability and Resilience poster session in spring 2024 and will provide preliminary data to support proposals for funding from federal agencies, foundations and/or industry.
